The golden dunes and arid scrublands of Desert National Park, near Jaisalmer in western Rajasthan, offer a spectacular birding experience amidst one of India’s most unique landscapes. Characterized by vast open expanses, thorny acacia scrub, and rocky outcrops, this region is home to an exceptional diversity of desert-specialist birds and raptors — making it a true paradise for birders and wildlife photographers.
This 4-day BIRDING TOUR explores the prime habitats of Desert National Park and its surrounding areas, from grass-covered dunes and dry riverbeds to agricultural fields that support an incredible variety of species. The region’s open terrain provides excellent visibility and remarkable photographic opportunities throughout the day.
Birding is conducted primarily through jeep safaris, ensuring both comfort and comprehensive coverage of this vast landscape. The desert’s dramatic light and wide horizons make every sighting — from coursers sprinting across the sand to vultures circling the thermals — an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Day-1

Arrive in jodhpur, the gateway to Desert National Park.

Transfer to tented accommodation nestled amidst the dunes--5 hour drive

Enjoy a traditional local food for lunch served on arrival.

Late afternoon safari to explore the birds such as Steppe Eagle, Laggar Falcon, Red-necked Falcon and other migratory raptors

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

Day -2

Morning and evening safaris to spot the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard and other desert avifauna like Desert Lark, Greater Hoopoe Lark,Cream coloured Courser and the Trumpeter Finch

Search for mammals such as the Indian Gazelle, Desert Fox, and Desert Cat.

Overnight stay at a luxury desert camp.
